Jyrus Melody

Singer-Songwriter-Producer

Influenced by the island sounds of native Trinidad and adopted Manhattan, JYRUS MELODY came to the stage in Atlanta as part of the group DAMAGE CREW, with Boobie aka Mad House, combining Mad House’s gritty reggae sound with Jyrus’ melodic tone. Heavily influenced by soca, reggae, hip hop and R&B, Jyrus is a strong lyricist crowned “hook master” by fans and colleagues alike during the Damage Crew years. Jyrus and Damage Crew opened for acts such as Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Mad Cobra and Baby Cham and cut several underground records (including album “Top is Our Aim”) which were sold on CD Baby, “on the street” and at gigs on tour throughout the South. Jyrus’ pop/dance song “MOLLY GAL,” blends Caribbean sounds with California trance and appears in the independent film, RUNT, with Jyrus making a special on-screen appearance across from Disney teen sensation, the late Cameron Boyce. Jyrus continues his solo career as performer, writer and producer and his single “HOLD ON” brings his unique sound and broad “feel-good” message of joy and inclusion to the world, and his EP “WHO BAD LIKE ME” shows the raw and relatable craft that makes him stand out from the crowd.  Jyrus recently visited Trinidad, where he recorded his newest single “I’M SMILING” with DP Productions under the guidance of DJ Dr. Ross.
